the public about most of these changes at the Oct. 18 meeting, which had been advertised for public hearing, but the provisions for roads were changed somewhat from those advertised. As originally proposed, Type Three roads would have been eliminated, and Type One roads, those built to state highway standards, would have been required for seven or more lots.

Mike Massie, who represents the Board of Supervisors on the Planning Commission, suggested that Type Three roads be allowed in family subdivisions. Wakefield District representative Werner Krebser said he would go along with that if the others would go along with Type One roads serving five lots or more.

Dr. Krebser pointed out that the highway department uses the figure of 50 vehicle trips a day as a standard for considering hard-surfacing an existing gravel road, and that they now estimate that each house causes 10 trips per day. '

The planners also considered suggestions from the Board of Zoning Appeals about ways to avoid the situation that caused Sally Nash’s request for a variance when she found her house had been built closer to her lot lines than is allowed in a Conservation zone.
