Gubernatorial candidates J. Marshall Coleman and Lt. Gov. L. Douglas Wilder sparred over qualifications and effectiveness in the second of two statewide televised debates last Thursday, Oct. 19. Although the one-hour appearance was not without personal attacks, the issue of abortion received second billing, yielding to what some say was a much needed change of pace.
The format of the last scheduled televised debate, broadcast from Richmond, was identical to that of the first. Following questions asked by a panelist of news media, both candidates posed questions to each other.
