Guest for delegate
Just as Marshall Coleman has failed make the case for change in the gubernatorial campaign, so has Democratic nominee David Crump failed to convince us that he should be elected to represent the 31st District in Virginia’s House of Delegates.
Raymond R. “Andy” Guest Jr. has represented our district for the past 17 years, and he has been an effective leader in Richmond. Our county officials give him the credit for including Rappahannock County in the conditional zoning legislation passed by the General Assembly during the last session.
During his career, he has done a remarkable job of balancing the often conflicting needs and priorities of his constituents. Warren County’s legislative agenda differs markedly from those of Rappahannock and Clarke, but Del. Guest has managed to represent them all.
In the process, he has won the admiration of even the Democratic members of the General Assembly. He is accessible to his constituents, and always willing to listen to their comments and suggestions. His integrity is beyond question.
As Minority Leader of the House of Delegates, he is in a position to influence legislation as it wends its way through the Assembly’s maze, as was demonstrated last year. The voice of rural counties is going to become more muted as the power of the urban areas grows, and Rappahannock County is going to need all the advocacy it can muster to make its voice heard over the clamor in Richmond.
We feel that Del. Guest is that advocate. His record speaks for itself.
