Decorator Frosting

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

3 egg whites

1 (16-ounce) package powdered sugar, sifted

Combine cream of tartar and egg whites. Beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until foamy. Gradually add sugar; continue beating 5?7

minutes or until stiff peaks fornj. Yield: frosting for 2 1/2 dozen coqkies.

Chocolate Cacklers !

2 1/2 cups flour

11/4 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar

3/4 cup butter

2 T. water

2 (6-oz.) pkgs. (2 cups) semiswee^t chocolate morsels

3 eggs

In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. In large saucepan, combine brown sugar and butter. Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly until butter melts; remove from heat. Stir in water. Add chocolate morsels and stir until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth. Transfer melted^ chocolate mixture to large bowl. Beat in eggs. Add flour mixture gradually, mixing well after each addition. Drop by slightly rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees 8-10 minutes. Makes about 8 dozen 2-inch cookies.
