Surviving are her husband, Alvin B. Stokes; one son, Bernard L. Stokes of Front Royal; one daughter, Nancy Stokes Lowe of Roanoke; one brother, Arthur K. Sonner of Franklin, N.C.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were J. Monroe Burke, Lyle Corron, Marlin Corron, Kirkland J. Lowe Jr., Andrew B. Stokes and Claude Stokes.
