Tony Rice is coming to the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 11, with the Confederate Agents. Jimmy Gaudreau will be on the mandolin and singing the tenor vocals, and Ricky Simpkins will be playing the fiddle, along with his brother Ronnie on the bass.
Tony Rice is the premiere guitarist in the country at this time and an exceptional vocalist. He first came to prominence in the ’60s with J.D. Crowe, in the now-classic group which included Ricky Scaggs, Jerry Douglas and Bobby Sloane. He also played for several years with David Grisman, helping to create the eclectic “Dawg” music.
