fray tor our construction team going to Tanzania, Nov. 14,” Shiloh Association Moderator Fred Henshaw asked the messengers and pastors attending the association’s annual meeting, held Oct. 19, at Alum Springs Baptist Church.
The Shiloh Association represents 33 Southern Baptist churches in Culpeper, Rappahannock, Orange and Madison counties. Its mission team will fly to Kilimanjaro airport, then make its way overland by jeep trails to the worksite in the Bukoba-Muleba region of Northwest Tanzania near the shores of Lake Victoria, for two weeks of intensive church construction.
Members of the six-man team range in age from 32 to 65. Their construction experience ranges from two professional building contractors to one man who rates his own construction expertise as “nil,” even though he is on the building and grounds committee of his church. Other professions represented on the team include a real estate agent, a heating and air-conditioning contractor, a retired New York City police lieutenant and a retired U.S. Navy captain.
All are active in their sponsoring churches. Three currently teach Sunday-school classes, one is an RA leader, another directs his church Brotherhood. Two are deacons; one a trustee. One serv es in the Shiloh association’s Christian Life Committee.
