The committee and many friends of Mrs. W.R. Williamson of, “Oak Forest” in Woodville (who died in April 1986) worked hard to compile her recipes and publish them in a cookbook in her memory. Her recipes were created to meet the needs of a low cost, low sugar, low fat, low salt diet.

Mrs. Williamson was shocked into the awareness of the need fqr a proper diet when her husband died of a heart attack. As the years passed she became more and more aware of the elderly and shutins )vho were not receiving a proper diet to meet their particular health problems. She was eager to do something about it.

In January 1989, “Flossies Recipes” was in the black. With expenses the committee began searching for a source that will make Mrs. Williamson’s dream come true.

To date $1,200 has been given to the Area Agency for Aging which is distributing food in Rappahannock County to people with health problems who require a special diet.
