'Driving Miss Daisy' at Theater
The movie Driving Miss Daisy will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. each day. The movie stars Jessica Tandy, Morgan Freeman and Dan Akroyd. Tandy is Miss Daisy Werthan, a bossy, stubborn Jewish Atlanta widow who, after crashing her new Packard into a hedge, bedgrudgingly takes a chauffeur. Over the next 25 years, as Miss Daisy ages from 72 to 97; Hoke, her chauffeur, and Miss Daisy progress from a strained master/servant relationship into an enduring but never informal friendship. The themes of anti-Semitism and black/white racial relations are never overplayed but remain resonantly in the background. The movie is rated PG.
1975 Class reunion planned
The Rappahannock County High School graduating class of 1975 will hold its 15-year class reunion on Saturday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock Park. It will be a pig roast. If you have not received an invitation or have questions call Mollie Welch at 675-3425 or Beverly Atkins at 675-3843.

The Middle Street Gallery Artist’s Cooperative has resumed its life Drawing Workshop on Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This is an open workshop with no instructor, but a model is provided. Bring your own art supplies. The Gallery will also sponsor a series of three demonstrations by local artists in their studios. Christopher Goodine, Eric Kvames and Patricia Mullan will talk about their work. Pre-registration is required. Dance at CCLC
Rock ‘n Roll fans of all ages are invited to join The Child Care and Learning Center on Saturday, June 2 from 8 p.m. to midnight at CCLC’s pavilion for a rock ‘n roll dance featuring the legendary Ok’s. Parent support group
A new parent support group for mothers and/or fathers with babies up to 18 months old will meet in June. The group will be designed to meet the needs of the parents and will meet June 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 10 a.m: until noon in Flint Hill. There will be a $20 fee.
