Rappahannock New* photo/Lou Halter FIREFIGHTERS VENTILATE THE ROOF of a home in Chester Gap which was destroyed by fire last Thursday afternoon. The fire, which gutted the structure owned by Anna Knight Ardinger is, according to Sheriff John Henry Woodward, “of suspicious origin.” The cause is undetermined, he said, and remains under investigation. One of the tenants, Jacob L. Houghton, was home with his young child when the fire started. They escaped unhurt.
