Rappahannock County High School Technology Education students may be heading to Texas for the 1990 Technology Students of America National Conference.

Bringing home four first place, a second place and several other awards from the annual state competition held in Richmond May 18-20, 10 out of the 18 students attending the conference received first, second and third place awards.

This year’s national competition will be held in Corpus Christi, Texas, June 19-24. Last year, Rappahannock County High School sent three students, Leroy North, Bryan Clark and J. Swofford to Winston Salem, North Carolina for the TSA 1989 national competitions.

Rappahannock County High School Technology Education teacher and national competition 1990 attending sponsor Ron Vickers reported five, maybe six, of the 10 winners are planning to attend the Texas competition. One state winner will not attend nationals due to a conflict in scheduling with basketball camp.

Due to the estimated cost of $4,000 for the group, only six of the students can attend.

“We have collected over threefourths of the money,” Mr. Vickers s^id, adding school administration has supported the effort and provided some funds for the trip. Rappahannock’s chapter of the Technology Students of America is asking local business, individuals or corporations to support their trip financially.

“We would appreciate any support an individual, company or corporation would give helping to make this event happen,” Mr. Vikers said, adding this year he feels the students are in “a fine position to compete nationally,” and the experience will benefit both school and Students.

Sending eighth graders Joey Dunagan and Tucker Rogers as members of the Technology Bowl Level I, who won first place at the state competition; upperclassmen Jeremy Tole, Bryan Clark and senior Liz Oliver, members of the Technology Bowl Levlel II, the school can enter
