Before asking for comment from the four council members participating (Reinhardt Lynch and Evelyn Willis disqualified themselves, William Wickens did not attend), Mayor Dean Morehouse reminded them that the rezoning “is not just for the applicant’s benefit, but for the town’s benefit. Is this something we wish to encourage in this area of town?”
Councilman Peter Skowronski replied that his concern rested on the “encroachment of any commercial use on the largest residential part of town. It is Main Street, but it is not the main traffic flow through town. Anything that causes further congestion needs to be looked at closely and addressed.”
