tely protect the residential properties along Gay Street, and did not represent sound zoning practice. They recommended that the Town Council reject that plan, which it did.

At its regular meeting on May 9, the council declined to decide the rezoning request, opting instead to schedule a work session to hear further information from Mr. McCarthy and Mr. Reynolds.

At last week’s meeting Mr. Dickey presented an amended plan which dropped 6,050 square feet, to a depth of 55 feet on the Gay St. side, from the rezoning application. The amended application requested mixed use zoning for the portion of the property on the Main St. side of a line running from the back comer of Charles Cannon’s property to the library parcel.
