Seasonal peaches and apples may be a scarce commodity around Rappahannock County this year due to late spring freezes.

Virginia’s 1990 peach crop, "is forecast at 2.5 million pounds,” according to Robert Graham, a statistician for the Virginia Agricultural Statistics Service in Richmond.

His office reports this figure is low compared to 1988’s 29 million pound peach crop and 19S9’s 15 million pound crop, though the last figure compares with this year’s damaged total.
