Savings Bank Tuesday. United, a Vienna-based thrift, reported a second quarter loss of $9.8 million.
Published reports last Wednesday indicate that at least eight more Virginia savings and loans institutions may be in trouble.
“The public has a right to know; the Congress has a need to know,” Mr. Smith said.
“No one in Washington wants to accept the blame, but they are asking every household in Virginia and America to pay $6,000 for the bailout,” Mr. Smith said.
