It was shocking to hear Iraq invaded Kuwait last Thursday; the very same day the cost of gasoline at the station in Warrenton where we purchase gas increased by 10 cents. We need to pray for peace especially in that region of the world.
Ruritans held their annual picnic on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Stuart Field on the Ruritan grounds. The picnic was in lieu of the August meeting.

The Amissville Firemen’s Festival and craft show is soliciting participants for the September 29 and 30 event. Hours on Saturday are 9 to 4 and Sunday from 12 to 6. Tables may be reserved for $15 a day or $25 for both days. Make check payable to Amissville VFD and mail to committee chairman Ginny Pierson at Box 4-B, Oak Crest, Amissville, VA 22002.
Many activities are planned, including a “Elected Representatives” booth, health booth for cholesterol screening and blood pressure checks, petting zoo, miniature horses, live entertainment, antique and classic car show, BBQ, etc.
