Movie at Gay St.

The movie Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. In modern-day Madrid, Pepa, an actress, is abandoned by her boyfriend who does TV commercials. There is a touch of thirties Hollywood in the frantic pace and heaped absurdities as people of all shapes and sizes gather in her apartment. The movie is rated R.

Dance with the OK's

The Child Care and Learning Center will be hosting the OK’s in a rock ’n roll dance at the pavilion on Aug. 18, 8 to 12 p.m. Admission will be $7. “Come out and dance with the OK’s,” said an organizer. Proceeds to benefit CCLC’s scholarship fund.

Oldway open weekends

Oldway Craft Village, Rt. 211, west of Sperryville is now open on weekends. Local artists who would like to show their work should contact Eric or Amy at 987-8474. There will be no booth fees during August. A grand opening is planned for Labor Day weekend.

Benefit yard sale

The Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company (CCVFD) will be having a yard sale on Aug. 25 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Castleton Fire Department. Anyone wishing to donate items for the sale can call 937-5614 or 937-6051. All donated items will be appreciated and the proceeds from the sale will go towards operating expenses of CCVFD.

Fall soccer registration

Fall soccer registration will be held on fee day, Thursday, Aug. 30 at Rappahannock Elementary School. Boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to “come and register, everyone else does,” said an organizer.
