Land use applications due '
The Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue is now accepting applications from landowners who wish to place their acreage in the county's land use program for the 1990 tax year, according to Commissioner Beverly Atkins. Those already participating in the program should have received renewal forms by mail, which must be signed and returned to the commissiner's office. Anyone who has not received a renewal form, or who wants more information about the program, should contact Ms. Atkins at her office (675-3513). The office isopen 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
ARB to meet at 7:30 p.m.
To better accomodate residents and members, Washington's Architectural Review Board will begin its meetings at 7:30 p.m. rather than 8 p.m. The new time will be effective with the Aug. 23 meeting, which has been changed from its regular third Thursday date. The regular date will resume in September. No course changes on Fee Day
Rappahannock County High School - -writ held its annual Fee Day on Thursday, f£& Aug. 30, from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., With a dinner break from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. High school principal John Toth noted that no schedule changes will be made on Fee Day. A request for a schedule change, which must be signed by a parent, may be filled out that day, but it will not be considered until after Fee Day. Early release Sept 4
On the first day of school, Tuesday, Sept. 4, Rappahannock County Public Schools will dismiss students early, at 2 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 5, both schools will begin their regular schedule for the remainder of the school year.
ASCS accepts late reports
The county Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office will accept late acreage reports as long as the participating farmer pays the cost of verifying the acreage report and there is physical evidence of the crop or land's use. Before receiving price support loans, farm program participants must report crops and acreage planted, the uses to be made of the P crops, and cropland acres devoted to - conservation uses. The deadline for filing acreage reports was July 15; for more information about late-filing requirements, contact the county ASCS office'in Washington (675-3616).
