Moffett S. Pullen
Moffett Strother Pullen, 69, of Flint Hill died Aug. 19 in Winchester Medical Center.
The funeral was held Aug. 22 at Flint Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Merlin Shorb officiating. Burial was in Flint Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Pullen was bom July 11, 1921, in Rappahannock County, the son of the late Clarence and Lelia Pullen. He was a machine operator and had worked at FMC Corp. and retired in 1981 from Aileen Inc. He was a member of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church and the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Keyser Pullen; two sons, Robert S. Pullen Sr. and Kenneth R. Pullen, both of Flint Hill; two brothers, Arthur Pullen of Warrenton and James W. Pullen of Front Royal; three sisters, Ada Grimsley and Edna Lillard, both of Flint Hill and Ida Ralls of Front Royal; three grandchildren; and three great greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers were Thomas Eastham, Donald Beahm, Robert Clatterbuck, Lewis Woodward, Mathew Berry and Johnny Atkins. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Grimsley, Bill Lee, Billy Ralls, Nelson Jenkins, Sammy Foreback, Arthur Pullen Jr., Danny Keyser, Lee Edward Keyser and Aubrey Lillard.
Dorothy Settle
Dorothy Jean Settle, 65, of Amissville, died Aug. 21 at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Settle was bom January 8, 1925, in Cumberland, Md. She was a secretary for the U.S. Government, most recently at Vint Hill Farms Station. She was a member of the Amissville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert B. Settle of Amissville; two daughters, Pamela Jean Fincham of Amissville and Sharon K. Thomasson of Hampton; one brother, Walter J. Settle of Annandale; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 at Amissville Baptist Church. The Rev. Thomas Everett, the Rev. Paul Franklin and the Rev. James Floyd will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Jeffersonton.
The family will receive friends today, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.
