#19141 - Fairfax Residency, Area 11 Responsible for the supervision of work crews performing maintenance activities. Will assign personnel and. equipment, secure materials, investigate complaints. Responsible for on-the-job training, performance evaluations, maintain budget records, time and equipment costs, etc. Knowledge of equipment and materials use schedule and establish men and equipment, perform duties without close supervision.
TRANSPORTATION CREW LEADER
Traffic Engineering - Centerline Operation
Salary $23,044 -$35,185
Position #04016 Supervise the daily activities of the Centerline crew. Will instruct employees
Ion work methods and equipment operations. Will operate centerline and edgeline gun, read plans and sketches, check materials for proper temperature. thickness, etc. Knowledge of centerline painting and marking operations, materials and methods. Skill in the operation of a variety of related equipment. Ability to plan and layout the work and provide technical direction to crew.

Traffic Engineering - Roadway Paint Section
Salary $19,283-$29,441
Position #13724 Position may be transferable between pavement marking and centerline operations. Will drive pavement marking or centerline truck to assure that centerline or pavement message is applied accurately, ensure proper maintenance and repair on paint equipment and truck. Will assist the Crew Leader in maintaining records, etc. Working knowledge of pavement marking and/or centerline operations. Ability to perform manual labor; read routine plans and sketches; instruct others in the operations and maintenance of the equipment.

Traffic Engineering - Roadway Paint Section

Position #13724 Position may be transferable between pavement marking and centerline operations. Will operate all line and pavement marking machines. Will perform resurfacing related work, retracking, line removal, etc. Will assist in cleaning and performing preventive maintenance on paint equipment and trucks. Working knowledge of pavement marking for centerline operations Ability to operate and maintain centerline/pavement marking machines; performs heavy manual labor and lift heavy objects; follow oral and written instructions.
BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION REPAIR WORKER
Fairfax Residency - Bridge Crew
Salary $21,079-$32,185
Position #s 01809 and 10121 Will repair and keep in good condition all bridges in the Northern Virginia District. Detect cut and remove deteriorate or damaged materials from bridges using jack hammers, drag chain, ect Construct, place and strip forms in the mixing placing and finishing of concrete Install and replace wooden decks, hand rails and structural steel Perform maintenance on vehicles, tools and equipments. Will have a basic working knowledge of bridges and their components. A majority of the work will be performed at night. Will be required to work weekends occasionlly.

Safety Service Patrol - Newington Headquarters
Position #15184 Will assist in the installation and maintenance of traffic signals. Install loops, trenching, digging, framing and paving concrete pole bases. Set up work zone safety and perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Ability to perform manual labor and to operate equipment within the class.

Safety Service Patrol - Newington Headquarters

Position #19119 Will patrol the interstate system for disabled motorists, assist maintenance crews in the removal of large objects and debris from interstate and perform preventive maintenance on safety service patrol trucks. Must have willingness to perform manual labor; ability to perform preventive maintenance; be courteous to and diplomatic with public and be familiar with Virginia interstate system. All positions require a valid operators license. Commerical or Chauffeurs license preferred. Must obtain a Commerical license upon completion of the 6 month probationary period. High school graduate or equivalent. A combination of education, training, experience may be considered if it demonstrates the ability to perform the job function.
