Norman reunion
The annual Norman reunion will be held at the Rappahannock Park on Rt. 211 Washington, Aug. 26. Rev. Paul Hawkins, pastor of Tidewater Baptist Temple in Chesapeake will be preaching from 11 a.m.-12 noon. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
Class of 1980 reunion
The Rappahannock County High School class of 1980 will be having their 10 year reunion on Saturday, Oct. 6. A barbeque is planned at the Rappahannock Park. If you are a member of the class of ’80 and have not been contacted please call Marion Facchina at (703) 937-5000 for more information by Sept. 4.
Art in crisis?
On Saturday, Sept. 8, Middle Street Gallery in Washington will open its “Sacred Cows” art show from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. It will be followed by a panel discussion, “Sacred Cows: The Arts in Crisis,” at the Town Hall on Gay St. Panel members will include several local artists as well as attorney Douglas Baumgardner. Nol Putnam will be the moderator. Panelists will present their views and concerns about censorship, funding and related issues that have recently turned the arts into a political and moral battleground.
Fire school Sept. 15,16
The Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue Association will sponsor its annual Fire School at the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 16. Classes offered will include Hazardous Materials (Level I), Pump Operations, Basic Firefighting Skills, Incident Command and Silo Fires/Farm Equipment Extrication.
