the library to receive over $1,050 worth of new, award-winning, hardcover children’s books.
The books are a very welcome addition to the library’s collection of children’s books. They cover all age ranges in fiction. There are also some badly needed non-fiction books. They will especially help update and expand our history and science sections.
This is the chance to see all of the books at one time. The library staff would like to extend a special invitation to everyone who contributed to the success of this grant. Beginning Thursday, May 21, the books may be checked out to be eryoyed at one’s leisure.
In other Library news, the Library Board of Trustees and the Friends of the Library have received a substantial contribution from Centel Foundation. Centel provides telephone services to Washington, Va.; Front Royal; Charlottesville and many other Virginia communities.
It is expected the contribution will be used to create much needed additional parking space and furnishings in the library.
McNears to host
exchange student
Richard and Jeanie McNear of Washington, Va. will welcome a new “daughter” in August 1992: Nina Ingemann Blicher, a Youth For Understanding (YFU) International Exchange student from Denmark.
Nina, who will be a student at Rappahannock High School in Sperryville, will live with the McNear family for an academic year.
As a member of the McNear family, Nina will participate in all family activities, from vacations to household chores. While sharing the culture of Denmark with her host family and schoolmates, she will learn about U.S. culture.
