Each elementary school in Virginia is placed in one of four categories depending upon their compliance with accreditation standards: (1) Accredited; (2) Accredited and advised of certain deficiencies to be corrected; (3> Accredited and warned of deficiencies that must be corrected; and (4) Non-accredited. Rappahannock Elementary School was placed in the first category.

Two students from Rappahannock
County have been named to the Dean’s List at Virginia Tech during the winter quarter, earning a 3.4 grade point average or better on the University’s 4.0 grading system. Earning the academic honors were David B. Miller and Laura W. Tupper. The son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Newbill Miller of Washington, David is a senior majoring in biology. Laura is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tupper, also of Washington. She is a freshman majoring in general arts and sciences.
The Washington Town Council, meeting on May 12, heard a report from treasurer Brad Fisher on the RappahannockRapidan Planning District Commission’s special priority committee. The special committee had met the previous Thursday to establish regional priorities for the award of blo'Ck grant money. Fisher, who had attended the Culpeper meeting, reported to the Council that improvement to local water supplies was rated in the top priority group, along with mandated sewer facilities, the category under which Sperryville plans to seek block grant money, industrial site development and central business district revitalization. Washington is seeking money to reapir and replace parts of its old town water system.
