De Castro named

Smith Barney VP

Peter R. de Castro of AmissviUe has been promoted to vice president of investments for Smith Barney, the New York-based investment firm has announced.

Mr. de Castro was formerly a second vice president. Prior to joining Smith Barney he served with the U.S. diplomatic corps overseas as a economic-commercial advisor.

He holds a bachelor's degree from Claremont McKenna College and a master’s from Georgetown.

Collegian graduates

Mamie Lea Turman, daughter of Robert and Dana Turman of Sperryville, was graduated May 9 from Longwood College in Farmville.

Ms. Turman received a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

She is a 1988 graduate of Rappahannock High School. —~
