opening game The Rappahannock Monarchs men’s baseball team opened its 1992 Apple Valley League season with a come-back fr-4 win at the expense of the Winchester nine Sunday afternoon.
Moses Jones went five innings, then was relieved by Luther Alexander, who got credit for the win. Rappahannock was led at the plate by Vincent Aylor with three singles. Andy Furr had a home run and two singles. For Winchester, Toby Keller went the distance. Steve Wymer had three singles. The Monarchs’ .season schedule has been released: home against Edinburg, 2 p.m. May 17; home against Woodstock, 2 p.m. May 24; at Winchester, 1 p..m. May 31 (doubleheader); home against Edinburg, 2 p.m. June 7; at Woodstock, 2 p.m. June 14; at Winchester, 2 p.m. June 21; at Edinburg, 1 p.m. June 28 (doubleheader); and home against Woodstock, 2 p.m. July 5. Last season the Monarchs finished second in the Apple Valley tournament. All home games are played at Pine Knot Field.
