'Celebrity'
waiters sling
hash for hearts
By BOB SCOTT

Some of the better known citizens of our Rappahannock community will be enjoying a “hearthealthy” dinner on May 30 at the Washington Fire Department hall.
But they won’t be eating dinner. They’ll be serving it to some of their friends and neighbors.
It’s all related to what has proven to be one of the American Heart Association's most successful and fun-filled fund-raising events, “Celebrity Waiter a la Heart.”
Co-hostesses Beverly Atkins and Barbara Burke are also local celebrities which (of course) enabled them to recruit their friends to throw caution to the wind and to disregard dignity as they make themselves somewhat outrageous by “slinging hash."
Of course, the specially prepared “hearthealthy” meal will be much more enticing than “hash” and well-worth the tax-free price of the ticket donation.
The number of tickets is limited due to hall capacity so you are encouraged to contact one of the distinguished “waiters” to reserve a place at one of their tables. The roster of “celebrity waiters” who will be soliciting your tips as they serve your meals and as they serenade you, dance for you, tell you jokes or do favorite magic tricks includes: Diane Bruce, Walter Day, Pat Davis, Fran Eldred, Frances Foster, Doug McCabe, Frank Reynolds, Bob Scott, Jimmy Swindler, John Henry Woodward and L.G. (Butch) Zindel III.
