The Piedmont United Way’s annual award night and annual meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 18 at the Culpeper County Junior High Schoo, North Main Street Extended and Route 229.
“We want to thank the community for their support of our United Way agencies,” said Betty Roberts, executive director. “Piedmont United Way makes a difference in the lives of many, only because the people in our Piedmont community, Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock give so generously of their efforts, time and money.”
Agencies invited to participate with music and client success stories include, the Boy and Girls Scouts from five counties, the Culpeper Nursery School, Fauquier County Community Action Committee (Head Start), Culpeper Community Development Corporation (Shelter), Culpeper Literacy Council and F.O.R.E.

The menu includes appetizers and wine before the dinner, which offers a salad, sirloin beef tips, turkey breast, rice, a vegetable, homemade rolls and dessert.
Beverly and Barbara believe that “it could be our best opportunity to watch some local celebrities act as crazy as they can to raise money for a good cause.” (But who’s to say it would be acting?)
In addition to the good food and the zany antics of the waiters, the evening program includes door prizes, an emcee, an auction of serious and humorous items and individual prizes awarded for best costumes and waiter performances.
The waiters will help to choose the “dress code” (or lack thereof) or the “theme” for the guests they are to serve.
This is definitely not a black tie affair. But it’s bound to be fun, so ’ please plan to celebrate with the “celebrities.”
Remember, Celebrity Waiter a la Heart is a fund-raising event ben. efitting the research, public education and community service programs of the American Heart Association in the continued fight against heart and blood vessel diseases.
