Identification of Burke’s body was made by evidence developed during the investigation, Sheriff Higgs said, including the car’s registration and interviews with witnesses who saw him earlier that night. Evidence gathered by investigators from the Sheriffs Office and the Virginia State Police, and analysis by the state forensics lab, also contributed to the determination.
• James Franklin Pullen, 45, of Castleton, was found guilty of manufacturing marijuana and pleaded guilty to possession of between a half-ounce and five pounds of marijuana with intent to distribute in Rappahannock Circuit Court on Monday, May 11.
Judge Carleton Penn found Pullen guilty of the manufacturing charge, and Pullen then entered a guilty plea to the second count.
The judge sentenced him to five years for each conviction, ordered the two sentences to run consecutively, then suspended the second sentence, leaving Pullen five years to serve.
