Wolf discussed plans for two upcoming conferences that are of interest to area businesses. "We are going to have a procurement conference on March 12," he said. "We’re going to get all the procurement officers for the federal government to come in, and we will invite all the businesses from the district to come in ... to see if we can get these purchases ordered from this area," Wolf explained.

His office is also organizing a tourism conference for sometime in the spring, “whereby we will try to bring in all the people in the region who are involved in tourism. Tourism creates a lot of jobs,” Wolf said, "and if you have a place like Williamsburg ... it's yours. An owner isn’t going to come along and shut it down in a year or two."

Wolf said that the conference would also investigate the interest in putting together some packages for foreign consumption. "They come, they spend a lot more money than domestic tourists, they stay longer ... and then they go home. You don’t have to build schools and things like that for them,” Wolf said.

Wolf believes tourism in parts of the districtmay suffer a serious setback if plans to close parts of the Skyline Drive from December to June continue to go forward. Wolf has been fighting the closure since it was announced two weeks ago.
