HARRISONBURG - For 14 years James Madison University has surveyed its incoming freshman. And this year’s freshmen are remarkably like their counterparts of 1984. . .and 1986.. .and 1988. . .and 1990.
; During the years that JMU has conducted the survey, its freshman have remained remarkably consistent in their personal attitudes, backgrounds and in their perceptions of college life.
The survey, which is conducted annually in the spring prior to fall enrollment, polls students on their high school experiences, their personal values and goals, and their impressions of JMU.
The survey reflects “their perceptions with little or no experience at JMU,” said A1 Menard, associate vice president for student affairs.
The questionnaire is sent to entering freshman along with housing information. This year, of the 2,100 students who received the surveys,
