STATE TAX FIELD REPRESENTATIVE
Location: Harrisonburg, VA Opportunity to use your knowledge of collections techniques & experience in the area of delinquent taxes. Involves personal contact with taxpayers, investigates indebtedness & payment resources, initiates liens, etc., to ensure payment. Audits small businesses to determine extent of tax liability. Advises businesses on tax related matters. Qualifications include: Working knowledge of business math; bookkeeping/accounting principles. Some knowledge of types of business entities. Alpha & numeric keyboarding skills to include CRT & PC. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial/ technical information, form conclusions & resolve problems concerning tax liability & ability to pay; work independently (research, investigation & negotiation); communicate effectively verbally & in writing. Preferred Education/Experience:' Baccalaureate Degree with a minimum of six semester hours in accounting. Work experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, or a similar fiscal area, which involved calling on & dealing with accountants, bookkeepers, credit managers, loan officers, financial counselors, or similar business representatives. Will be required to provide own transportation in order to travel extensively within assigned geographic area on a daily basis. Mileage reimbursement according to Virginia Travel Regulations.
Salary range is $21,501 - $32,829. Indicate position #C0222. The selected.applicant will be prohibited from performing tax or accounting services for compensation outside of normal working responsibilities.
