All of them were in varying degrees of malfunction. One took about two days to fill up. One ran until the handle was jiggled for a couple of minutes and the other dripped water on the floor.
I decided that if I got them all fixed at once it would entice the plumber to respond quickly to the promise of a few easy bucks.
Did you know that plumbers never answer their phones? Sometimes they do not have answering machines working!
Plumber number one was at the store drinking coffee. He assured me that he would be at my house that afternoon or not later than the next morning. Two days later I saw him at the store drinking his morning coffee and he again assured me that he would be on the job that morning.
I have never mentioned it to him again although I see him every day nor has he mentioned it to me. It makes me wonder if it is something personal.
Plumber number two did not answer his phone but the answering machine assured me that he looked forward to my message. My machine that evening held his reply. He would be at my house the very next morning. He has not been heard from yet.
Plumber number three did not call back.
I fixed two of the toilets myself and turned one off completely. So much for hiring things done.
Two of my sons promised to come over this morning to help me install a drafting table. Neither one showed up.
