Ur. Gangel said he would be concerned about the “quality of land usage.” He noted that finding a parking space at the elementary school is already a problem that willget worse as the school grows. He added that playground space would be “tight.” He also said the expansion could bring some of the problems with larger schools that Northern Virginia localities are having.

Dr. Gangel said that the third alternative building a middle school would cost $4.2 million plus the cost of land. “That’s the most expensive initial cost,” he said. He added that a middle school would take care of space problems through the vear 2015.

He said that additional employees would be required regardless of the alternative selected, and added that they would cost between $1141,000 and $4(51,000 at today’s salaries. Building a middle school would add $149,000 in personel costs to those figures, he said. He also estimated that more furniture and equipment costing $19,800 would be needed regardless of the alternative selected, and that building a middle school would add $41,500 to those costs.
