Vernie Lang
Vemie Oliver Lang, 79, of Luray, died Sunday, Dec. 13 at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray.
Mr. Lang was bom Oct. 16, 1913 in Page County, the son of the late Lloyd Franklin and Ruth Irene Miller Lang.
He had worked at the Virginia Oak Tannery and was a member of Morning Star Lutheran Church east of Luray.
On Jan. 4, 1944, he married Nettie Susan Breeden, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Junior Kelly Lang, Bobby Lee Lang and Donnie L. Lang, all of Luray and Melvin Ray Lang of Stanley; a daughter, Ruby Mae Parsons of Stanley; three brothers, Clarence Lang of Kernsville, W.Va., Kirby Lang of Madison and Randolph Lang of Luray; four sisters, Reva Zirkle, Kathleen Sours, Margaret Bywaters and Anna Vaughn, all of Luray; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Morning Star Lutheran Church by the Rev. Frederick C. Smith. Burial was in Morning Star Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Bradley Funeral Home in Luray was in charge of the arrangements.
Evelyn Porter
Mrs. Evelyn E. Porter, 82, of Viewtown, died Monday, Dec. 14 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
Mrs. Porter, a native of Culpeper, was born Sept. 14, 1910, the daughter of the late Pendleton and Lillie Edmonds Williams. She was the wife of the late Clarence H. Porter.
