Beverly Ennis, an agent for Rainbow VIP and a spokesman for the Fauquier Association of Realtors, said it was hard to determine what impact the loss of military personnel will have on the regional economy.

“I think we may have a little flood of rental homes available but I think we could use them so that may help,” Ms. Ennis said.

Fauquier County Chamber of Commerce executive director Sally Murray agreed that the move’s impact is uncertain at best. She said it was hard to tell from information1 provided to the Chamber by the Army just how many people would be affected by the move.

Since many Army personnel as well as civilian defense workers live in both Fauquier and Prince William counties, the movement of the 201st will have some kind of impact, The trouble is gauging and preparing for it.

Allen was unable to run for reelection to Congress last November due to redistricting, and his term will end on Jan. 4.

Although his voice in Congress will be lost, he is urging Warner, Sen. Charles Robb, D-Va., and Frank Wolf, R-lOth, to continue the fight against the removal of approximately one-third of Vint Hill’s military force.

“We’re doing what we can, but you have to bear in mind that the United States Army is just coming down very rapidly in terms of numbers,” Warner said on Monday. “When you look at the impact thus far on Virginia of the drawdown of military forces, we have almost remained untouched compared to other jurisdictions in America where major installations have been lost,” he said.
