Park charges

4 with hunting

Shenandoah National Park Superintendent J.W. Wade has announced the recent arrest of several individuals on poaching and weapons violations.

Shortly after midnight on Nov. 29, DeWayne A. Shifflett and Everette E. Shifflett, both of Elkton, Va., were apprehended and charged with illegal hunting and discharging a weapon into the Park. In addition, both men were charged with numerous state violations. The incident occurred along U.S. 33 in Rockingham County and was a joint investigation between the Park and Virginia Game Wardens.

On Saturday, Dec. 12, Thomas E. Snow and James E. Snow, both of Stanardsville were apprehended and charged with illegal hunting and weapons violations. Three deer and two rifles were seized and will be subject to forfeiture.
