"That was our first district loss of the season,” Leake said. “I think that our players felt bad about losing the game but they felt worse about reseiving harsh criticism from our fans,” he added.
“Not that I owe an explanation to anyone, but a coach in a game situation goes with what has worked in practice and earlier games, if I had the same situ^ion in which we have a lead and I need to rest and protect my starters, I will to the same substitution as before,” he said.
“I have confidence in every player who wears a uniform for me,” he added. “By no means did the lack of performance by our substitutes cost us that game. It is an easy excuse for an uneducated fan by only a contributing factor (in the loss,) he said.
“We are dealing here with teenagers and to put that type of pressure on a teenager is very unfair,” he said in response to loud criticism from some Rappahannock fans during the game.
Looking back on the two games on Monday, Leake said he appreciates the positive support of the fans who were at both games.
"I would like to thank the select group of positive supporters who were there both nights and would encourage all followers to understand the amount of inexperience and determination of this season’s ball club,” he said.
