Walter L. Robinson, 23, of Culpeper, has been charged in the shooting incident at the Pine Knot Inn last month.
Maj. Ed Streapy of the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office said Tuesday afternoon it had taken more than a month to track down witnesses to the shooting, which occurred on Saturday night, Nov. 7, about 11p.m.
Acconiing to Mqj. Streapy an altercation began inside the restau-' rant and one of those involved went outside to his car and got a gun. The gunman then went around to the side of the building and began shooting through the window, injuring Walter C. Freeman of Washington.
Robinson has been charged with brandishing a firearm, a misdemeanor, and three felonies: shooting into an occupied dwelling, feloniously shooting Freeman, and using a fireaim in the commission of a felony.
M^j. Streapy said that Robinson, whose listed address is 206 Monticello Ave., Culpeper, has apparently not been seen in the area since the shooting. Robinson stands 6’9” and weighs about 147 pounds, Mqj. Streapy said. 'The warrants have been posted on the national crime computer. All we can do now is wait for him to show up somewhere," he added.
In other action Maj. Streapy reported that John Wayne Childrey has been charged with embezzlement. Allegedly he failed to turn over $7,425 to William and Ann Furtick after selling a tractor left on consignment. The matter has not yet come before the court.
In Circuit Court last week, several defendents had their probations revoked and were returned to jail by Judge Shore Robinson. Daniel Allen Pullen and Irvin Franklin Freeman were both sent to the Rappahannock jail by the judgeafter evidence was presented of farther trouble with the law since their last convictions in this court.
