Richmond - If you want to krjow the status of your federal income tax refund check, call the Internal Revenue Services’ Automated Refund Information line to find out.
The toll-free telephone number, 1-800-829-4477, is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to li:30 p.m. for touch-tone service only. Certain information; primary social , security number shown on the Return, filing status, and the exact dollar amount of the refund is needed to check the status of your refund.
It is a good idea to have a cop^ of your tax return available to provide this information. Twenty-six milijon taxpayers used the system to check on their refund checks last year. 11
If you^filed a paper return with the Internal Revenue Service, ypu should allow four weeks from the date of mailing before calling the Automated Refund Information line to find out when your refund check will be mailed to you.
