“Did I get any mail today?” is the number one question to RCES first grade teacher Mrs. Flinchum these days. It began in December, when her students began studying countries by learning about Christmas customs in different countries.
So much interest was generated that each child chose a country that they wanted to learn more about, and wrote a letter to the embassy of that country asking for more information.
The class took a field trip to the Washington Post Office where Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Brown (Post Office Employees) took the students on a tour.
They mailed their embassy letters, and within a week, began receiving “big” envelopes filled with maps, brochures, and information from their respective countries.
