Rappahannock County Democrats joined the majority this past Saturday, electing delegates to the flatty's convention who are pledged to support the winning ticket of Mary Sue Terry, Donald S. Beyer Jr.' and William D. Dolan. ’"'County Democrats elected Esther and Franklin Schmidt, Carson Johnson and Douglas Baumgardner as delegates to the party’s convention in May. James Swindler and B. Lee Bird were named alternates.

The caucus, postponed from Saturday, March 13, because of the blizzard, was sparsely attended. Only fiv& persons were present when the meeting began. None of the six delegate candidates were present.

The meeting, scheduled for the courtroom, was held in the downstairs waiting room instead. “We are required to lock the doors at noon and begin the meeting at tharxime,” explained county chairman Kent Reeve as he closed the door and Opened the meeting. ‘ “As a result of voting at similar meetings around the state the Democratic ticket for the upcoming elections is complete and the May Convention will be a pro forma affair. ''Mrs. Terry will be the gubernatorial nominee. She will be joined by Mr. Beyer running for lieutenant gdvemor and by Mr. Dolan seeking her former job as attorney general.
