The Rappahannock Lions are on the prowl again. The calendar claims. it’s Spring and the Lions have crawled out of their dens and started to gather things for the Annual Auction.
While you’re waiting for the Big Snow to finally melt, the grass to turn green and the fruit trees to flower, the Lions would appreciate it if you would begin to think about all those items that you’ve been keeping but not using for years and could just as easily do without.
Some of your neighbors could make good use of the things you no longer need. Everyone can benefit.
Your house gets neater, your yard looks better and there’s more room for hay in the bam. It even helps with next year’s taxes.
The Lions will come around with a truck and pick up what you donate, sign an official receipt and you can “write it off’ as a deductible donation. Your cast-offs are our “cash crops.” Someone else gets a bargain and the Lions raise money to carry on all their good works for our community.
This years Lion Auction Committee, co-chaired by Kermit Weakly and Holly Pendleton, has decided to raffle off a $500 cash prize as a special incentive to generate auction interest.
Raffle tickets will be available from any members of the Lions Club at $2 per ticket.
The Rappahannock Lions Club Auction will be held on Saturday, May 8, at 6 p.m. at the Washington Volunteer Fire Department Hall.
