hardening program planned

Friday, April 2 the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection will present “Growing Organically: a Gardening Discussion”, featuring members of the Virginia Association for Biological Farmers.

The program will feature valuable information usable in all gardens, large or small, organic or not, including tips on organic growing, composting, pest control, specialty crops, marketing, and much more. The program is part of the Library’s First Friday Series, and begins at 8 p.m. in the meeting room. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.

S.H.A.R.E. delivery day

The March Delivery Day for S.H.A.R.E. is from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27 at the Washington Baptist Church. All participants should pick up their groceries at this time.

A donation of not more than $1 will be appreciated on Delivery Day to defer the cost of gas for tfie two men w ho drive each month to pick up the groceries. Participants should also bring their community service vouchers and $13 in cash or food stamps to sign up for April.

Exhibit at Middle Street

The public is cordially invited to the opening of an exhibit of paintings by Rappahannock artists, Robin Barker Purnell. The work shown is a collection of paintings produced during her three year stay in St. Petersburg, Russia and provides an insight into Russian life and culture.

The exhibit opens on Sunday, April 4 from 3-6 p.m. and closes on April 25. Beth Levick’s acapello singing group “The Eclectics” will perform at the opening.

Lords of the Sky

The Wildlife Center of Virginia presents Lords of the Sky at 7p.m. on Thursday, March 25 at Spring Mountain Scllfeol in Washington. “Meet falcons, some of the fastest birds alive, experience the piercing state of a hawk and learn the secrets of majestic birds of prey", said a spokesperson. Refreshments will be sold. There will be a $2 admission charge and $1 charge for Spring Mountain School students.

RAA registration

Due to the bad weather, call-ins for the RAA baseball/softball registration will be accepted. Please call Lydia Pentacost after 7 p.m., Monday-Friday at 937-5975. April 10 will be the last day for all registration.
