In that event, and I happen to think the statewide races are going to be close, Miller could assume a large role among those Republicans who have watched him shed his maverick image to become a reasoned voice arguing that in order for the party to return to its winning wrays it must cast a wider net to appeal to voters who are more interested in results than political affiliation. .
He caused a stir recently w hen he suggested that the coming GOP convention should adopt a resolution suggesting that the national party abandon its anti-abortion plank in an effort to take that emotion-fraught issue out of the electoral process.
