Also speaking will be John Burns, president of VABF. Mr. Burns raises small fruits, vegetables and goats on his Goat Hill Farm here in the county. His farm is Certified Organic, and Burns is very active on a national and international level in the movement for organic certification.
And rounding out the panel will be Rixeyville residents Jim and Sally Mello, who raise organic fruits, vegetables, shiitake mushrooms, honey and Christmas trees. Mr. Mello is secretary of VABF and they are both very involved in the Warrenton Farmers Market where they also sell their own jams and baked goods.
The panel will be discussing their owri gardening experiences, with the emphasis on how to grow food organically. They will also allow lots of time for questions from the audience, so come prepared to ask questions and learn something new.
The program starts at 8 p.m. in the Library’s meeting room with refreshments to follow.
