at Belle Grove
Belle Grove Plantation, the National Trust for Historic Preservation house museum located one mile south of Middletown will offer cooking demonstrations in the old winter kitchen of the main house.
Have you ever wondered how the cooks in colonial times prepared their meals? What did the colonials eat? How did it taste? Anything like our foods of today? What about the conisitancy of the foods? Color? How did the colonials keep some foods warm while tending to the other foods for the meal? What utensils were used? Here you will enjoy watching Betty Martin and other open hearth cooking experts prepare some colonial dishes which you might want to experience.
Please come spend some time watching the cooks and enjoy the aromas of colonial cooking from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is charged to tour the house museum however there is no charge to observe the cooking demonstrations. The date will be April 3, 10 and 24.
