Huntly’s Wakefield Country Day School won the Valley Award at the Valley Certamen they hosted on March 6. The award is given to the school with the highest average prefinal score; the engraved plaque will be kept at the Rappahannock County independent school until the next certamen.
The annual contest of secondary school Latin students travels among the participating schools. Participating this year were The Country Day School, Handley High School, Highland School, Lylbum Downing Middle School, Rockbridge County High School, Stuarts Draft High School, Wakefield School Inc., and Wilson Memorial High School. Latin sponsors from the various schools brought students to compete at Latin I, Intermediate, and Latin III-IV skill levels.
