Mrs. Burke has been interested in earing for elderly patients for many years. While running the grocery store, she opened the Sunnyslope Home for Adults outside of Flint Hill, a convalescent care facility. She is now devoting all her time to that enterprise.
Charles Burke is enjoying the country store business, even though the hours are long. “We are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. except for Friday and Saturday nights when we are open until 10 p.m.,” he said.
“After two months working here I like it,” he said. “What I like most are the people. They have been super. That is the most surprising part of all,” he added.
“It is a whole lot different than the city,” he admitted.
The only hard part has been the hours and he has rehired Sue McCloud of Nethers to help behind the counter. She had worked for Mrs. Burke and is well liked by the regulars at the store.
