After all is said and done (almost), comes the event that will finally wrap up. this year’s festivities and shape the future of what is hoped will become an annual event. The Sunday Pot Luck Brunch and Forum will feature three different speakers who will address the meaning of the Crossroads Festival to the life of our community and its social value. Darwin Lambert, James w. Thomasson, Ph.D., and Donna Porterfield will offer their individual insights at a BYOE (Bring Your Own Everything) event. Admission is a pot-luck dish, along with your own silver, china, glass, cup and napkin (no disposables, please!) Registration in advance is required. This event is provided by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy.
To involve five diffemt farms, dozens of artists and hundreds of local citizens to highlight a union between farmers, artists, and community members is no easy task. As Project Director Julie Portman said, “the entire community has pulled together so that attendees will have a unique chance to experience farms and farm families in a different, special way. We have worked hard together to shape a commemoration of what we hold in common-our love and respect of the land that sustains and inspires us all.”
