We wish to express our deep appreciation to the community for making the Sept. 16 Fashion Show Luncheon a grand success. This fund raiser to benefit the Rappahannock Unit of the American Cancer Society was made possible through the combined efforts of dedicated volunteers, the generosity of local business establishments, and the overwhelming support of the public. Because of the generous reponse, approximately $8,000 was raised to aid in the fight of Cancer and maintenance of Rappahannock patient services. * CAROL MILLER and JINNIE

I am compelled to respond to the letter from Fred Grohgan of Warrenton published in your Sept. 29 issue.

I resent the statement in his letter that my positions on issues with state-wide significance “are determined by the Democratic Leadership. ” That is wrong.
